Don't trust your wedding photos to Uncle Harry.

How to Get Great Wedding Pictures

Don’t count on a friend or a relative to capture the beautiful images of your wedding day.  No one can be both a wedding guest and a great photographer at the same time.  Capturing your wedding photos is going to require both talent and someone's full-time attention.  If you end up with bad wedding photos, will it matter that Uncle Harry saved you a few dollars?

Consider a pre-wedding photo session with the same photographer who will shoot your wedding.  This will allow the couple to become comfortable with the photographer before the wedding and will help him to evaluate your best angles.  The photos from this shoot can be combined with recorded interviews of the couple and their favorite music to make a beautiful DVD that can be played at the rehearsal dinner or the wedding reception.

Your wedding day is not the time to try new make up or a new hair look.  If possible, have your makeup artist and hair stylist do their magic, and have the photographer take some test shots of the new look.  If you're happy with the test shots, you know you are going to look fabulous on your special day.

Have fun, relax, and play to the camera.  If you love the camera, it will capture both your inner and outer beauty.

Posed group shots are ok in moderation to record the friends and relatives at the wedding.  However, there is nothing more boring than a wedding album full of group shots.  Great wedding photos should tell the story of your day in action and reveal the personalities and emotions of those involved.
